Privacy policy

Your privacy on our systems

Within our own site/systems we respect the privacy of site visitors and do not store information that is not necessary to the operation of our service.

Information we store

  • IP address.

To protect our site visitors from abusive or offensive content we record the source IP address of submissions of data (i.e. when you submit a new quiz, rate a quiz or submit a report) to this site.

    This information enables us to:

    • Block submissions from IP addresses that have previously abused our facilities; for example, by posting offensive, inappropriate or obscene content or submitting malicious reports/comments.
    • Prevent people for submiting multiple ratings of the same quiz.
  • Data entered on forms.

If you enter personal data as part of a quiz you have created and are submitting, then naturally it will be part of the quiz and included in the published quiz.

Your name (username/handle) and email address is required to sign up so that you can create quizzes. These are used as follows:

    • The name you enter when you sign up will appear as the author on quizzes you create.

Visitors may also choose to search for quizzes by the author name.

    • The email address you submit is used for the purpose of activation and password recovery.
This helps to protects our systems against abuse and ensure that you can recover your account if you forget your password.
    • If you report a quiz (i.e. make a complaint / report an error) you can do so anonymously. Reports are not published and can only be viewed on our internal (confidential) screens.

Your confidentiality

We do NOT require that you enter your real name – in fact a unique handle (nickname/alias) is recommended

We do not share your email address with others.

We do NOT store your answers or try to profile you. The score you achieve is not stored, it is only used to update the average score of the quiz (this helps us grade how difficult the quiz is) and then immediately discarded.

Cookies we use

Cookies are required for our site to operate and to ensure security. Our site only uses ‘session cookies’ and no identifiable data is stored in our cookies at any time.

A session cookie is a cookie that your browser automatically deletes at the end of your session; when you close the browser the data is deleted

Cookies we use:

  • PHPSESSID
  • ic_ses_blc

These cookies work together to enable the site to work (i.e. so the system knows what to display next when you press a button, the way you want things displayed, etc.) and increases your security by ensuring that the request really comes from you and not a blacklist IP or someone trying to hijack your session.

Third party privacy and cookies

We display 3rd party adverts from Google on our site, Google use their own cookies to serve ads based on a user's browsing history (i.e. what you have searched for and pages you have visited). You can manage/opt out of this via Google Ads Settings.
